Terms of service
Last updated October 22, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and ScreenReel (“we”, “us”) for the ScreenReel app and screenreel.co. By creating an account, downloading or using ScreenReel, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
Your account
- You need an account to use ScreenReel. Give a real email address you can receive mail at.
- You must be at least 16, and old enough to enter a contract where you live, or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
- An account is for one person. Keep your password safe: you’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time by emailing hello@screenreel.co.
Your license
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use ScreenReel on the number of Macs your plan includes, for personal or business work, while you follow these terms. We keep all rights in the app, its design and the ScreenReel name. ScreenReel is operated by Jean-Philippe Baillargeon, a sole proprietor.
The app checks in with our server when it opens and every few hours to confirm your plan. If a Mac can’t reach us for 14 days, it signs out until it’s back online. Signing a Mac out frees its place for another.
Plans
The free plan is free for as long as it’s offered, with a watermark on exports. Pro adds the features listed on our pricing page and removes the watermark. We improve ScreenReel all the time, so features may change. If a change takes away a major Pro feature during a period you already paid for, you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of that period.
Billing and cancellation
- Pro is sold by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record, which handles payment, invoices and sales tax. Its terms also apply to your purchase.
- Pro is billed monthly or yearly, in advance, and renews automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime from the link in your receipt or by emailing us. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then your account goes back to the free plan. Your recordings are never affected.
- Prices are in US dollars and may not include taxes. We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your renewal.
Refunds
Try ScreenReel on the free plan before you upgrade. If Pro isn’t right for you, email us within 48 hours of your first payment for a plan and we’ll refund it in full. After that, payments aren’t refundable, except for billing errors and where these terms or the law where you live say otherwise.
Your recordings
Everything you record, edit and export is yours. It stays on your Mac: we don’t receive it and claim no rights to it. You’re responsible for keeping backups.
You’re also responsible for what you record. Get any consent the law requires before recording calls, meetings or other people, and only record content you have the right to use.
Acceptable use
Don’t:
- use ScreenReel to break the law or record people or content without the right to;
- remove the watermark or get around the plan, Mac limit or sign-in other than by buying Pro;
- share, sell or rent your account or license;
- copy, modify, or reverse engineer the app, except as far as the law allows despite this term;
- interfere with our servers or other people’s use of ScreenReel.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using ScreenReel and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why when we can. If we close a paid account without a reason under these terms, we’ll refund the unused part of your period.
No warranty
We work hard to make ScreenReel reliable, but it’s provided “as is” and “as available”, as far as the law allows. We don’t promise it will be free of bugs, always available, or right for every purpose.
Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost recordings, and our total liability for any claim about ScreenReel is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50 if that’s more.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live, such as Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For changes that matter, we’ll email you at least 30 days before they apply. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before then, and we’ll refund the unused part of a paid period. Using ScreenReel after the change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the place where you live, and can bring a claim in your local courts.
General
These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about ScreenReel. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term isn’t a waiver of it. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over ScreenReel; you may not transfer it without our consent. These terms are offered in French and in English; you chose to read the English version, and both have the same meaning.
